Triyuginarayan Temple
Triyuginarayan Temple is a temple in the holy state of Uttarakhand. Fire has been burning inside this temple for centuries. This place is a part of the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. It is said about Triyuginarayan Temple that it is the auspicious marriage place of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
The fire ignited inside the temple has been burning for many ages, hence the name of this place is called Triyugi i.e. the fire which has been burning for three ages.
Triyuginarayan was the capital of Himavat. Here in the marriage of Shiva-Parvati, Vishnu had followed all the rituals as Parvati's brother. Whereas Brahma became a priest in this marriage. At that time all the saints and sages had participated in this ceremony. The fixed place of the wedding venue is called Brahma Shila which is situated right in front of the temple. The description of the greatness of this temple is also found in the Sthal Purana.
Location of Trigujinarayan
Triyuginarayan is a famous pilgrimage site located on the route of Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand. The temple is approx12 kilometres from Sonprayag on a motorable road to the temple. It is situated at an altitude of 1980 m above sea level.
Triyuginarayan has four lakes namely Brahmakund, Vishnukund, Rudrakund and Saraswatikund. There is a temple of Narayan near these lakes.
A fire burns continuously in one place. Legend has it that the marriage ceremony of Shiva and Parvati took place here.
In Kumarasambhava, Agni is considered as a witness in the marriage of Shiva-Parvati:-
'वधूं द्विज: प्राह तदैव वत्से वह्लिर्विवाहं प्रतिकर्मसाक्षी, शिवेन भर्त्रा सह धर्मचर्या कायां त्वयामुक्तविचारयेति'
Means:- As a memorial of this virtuous fire, the fire is always kept burning at this place.
