Itinerary of Mount Kamet Expedition
Kamet Expedition starts from Rishikesh. Rishikesh is well-connected by road, rail, and air with major cities in India. Here are some ways to reach Rishikesh:

Here is a detailed itinerary for a Mount Kamet Expedition:

Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
Upon your arrival in Delhi, you will be met by a representative from the trekking company and transferred to your hotel. You will have the remainder of the day to rest and recover from your travels.

Day 2: Drive from Delhi to Rishikesh (335m)
After breakfast, you will board a private vehicle for the drive to Rishikesh. The drive takes approximately 6-7 hours, and you will have time to explore the town and visit the many ashrams and temples.

Day 3: Drive from Rishikesh to Joshimath (1,890m)
You will board a private vehicle for the scenic drive to Joshimath. The drive takes approximately 8-9 hours, and you will have time to explore the town and get a good night's rest before beginning your trek.

Day 4: Drive from Joshimath to Lata (2,400m)
The distance between Joshimath and Lata is around 25 km and it takes approximately 1 hour by road. The road conditions are generally good, but it can be narrow and steep in some parts. It is recommended to hire a local taxi or jeep for this journey as they are better equipped to handle the terrain and have experienced drivers.

Day 5: Trek from Lata to Lata Kharak (3,550m)
​
On day 5 of the Mount Kamet expedition, you will be trekking from Lata to Lata Kharak, which is situated at an altitude of 3,550 meters. The trek is approximately 6-7 km long and takes around 5-6 hours to complete.
The trail passes through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and deodar trees, and you will be able to see some breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. You will also cross a few small streams and waterfalls on the way.
Once you reach Lata Kharak, you will set up your campsite and spend the night there. It is important to acclimatize properly at this altitude before moving ahead with the expedition.

Day 6: Trek from Lata Kharak to Base Camp (4,650m)
After breakfast, you will continue your ascent to Base Camp. The trek takes approximately 5-6 hours and is a steep climb over rocky terrain. You will camp overnight at Base Camp.

Day 7-16: Acclimatization and Climbing period
​
It is typical for the period of acclimatization and climbing to take anywhere from 7 to 16 days, depending on various factors such as weather conditions, individual physical fitness and altitude acclimatization, and route conditions. During this period, climbers would typically make multiple ascents and descents of the mountain to gradually acclimatize to the altitude and establish higher camps. The actual climbing period itself would also depend on a variety of factors, such as weather conditions, route conditions, and individual team performance.

Day 17: Trek from Base Camp to Lata Kharak (3,550m)

After a successful climb to the summit, you will start your descent toward Lata Kharak. The trek will be mostly downhill and will take around 6-7 hours to reach Lata Kharak.

Day 18: Trek from Lata Kharak to Lata (2,400m) and Drive to Joshimath
Trek down from Lata Kharak to Lata, which should take about 3-4 hours. Once you reach Lata, you can rest for a bit and have some refreshments. Later in the afternoon, board a vehicle for the drive to Joshimath, which should take around 2-3 hours. Check into a hotel in Joshimath and have a relaxing evening.
Dinner and overnight stay in Joshimath.

Day 19: Drive from Joshimath to Rishikesh
After breakfast, you will board a private vehicle for the drive back to Rishikesh.
​
Day 20: Drive from Rishikesh to Delhi
After breakfast, you will board a private vehicle for the drive back to Delhi. You will have the remainder of the day to explore the city and do some last-minute shopping.

Day 21: Departure
You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight home or to your next destination.
